AYURVEDA is the traditional Indian system of medicine, which existed from more than 5000 yrs and is still practiced widely in India. The word Ayurveda is derived from two Sanskrit words; AYUR means LIFE and VEDA means KNOWLEDGE. Ayurveda is the science of life. Health is a state of physical, mental and social well being and not merely non-existence of diseases. The proper implementation of these factors collectively contributes to the increased productivity and creativity of human being. Ayurveda recognizes the human body synonymous with the universe. It assumes that you as an individual are that consciousness from which all bodies and minds evolve. It focuses on maintaining the health of body mind and spirit by proper diet, exercises, positive outlook and leading a life in tune with nature. Ayurveda, the safe and effective herbal health care system emphasizes on detoxification and rejuvenation therapies, which making it the most sought after among natural health care systems.

Ayurveda is centered on the five basic elements of creation called panchamahabhutas. The first element to emerge was ether, which in turn gave birth to air, then to heat and water and earth. These elements are foundations of the Ayurveda system and the basis for further understanding of the body and health. The elements do not act in isolation but in combination with the other elements to influence the human body. These combinations are known as doshas. These doshas must be in balance with the human being for health to be maintained. The three doshas - Vata, Pitta and Khapa based on the five essential elements, make up the essential configuration of any person. A well-balanced state of the three elements ensures a healthy and harmonious life.

This medical system is based on the system of prevention. This means that people are often treated before the symptoms of the illness become evident. A wide variety of healing techniques are used within the ambit of this system. These include, massage, mineral supplements, dietary changes, medicated enemas, exercise, and administering a proper cleansing program such as panchakarma etc.

The science of Ayurveda aims to achieve the four goals of human life i.e.

  • Dharma
  • Artha
  • Kama
  • Moksha
